The text of the NCFFA has now been submitted to Representative Lewis, and I will keep everybody up to date as to it's progress. Bear in mind that the deadline for submission to the NCGA is in March of 2010, and that in the interim we need to be gathering those 5000 petition signatures per county, in order to have the public pressure IN PLACE the moment that it hits the floor.
I will spend tonight updating the petition materials to reflect the actual text of the bill as it was presented today, as well as re-creating the letter-sized materials so that they do not consume nearly so much bandwidth to download. Expect to see those files updated by Thursday Nov 26th at noon.
The 8-up petition signature forms will remain the same. Please, do not hesitate to be collecting signatures right now! 5000 signatures per county by March 2010 will be quite a feat. I will also open a new thread on the discussion board (below) with a MS Word document (3 pages) containing the actual text that was submitted to Rep Lewis today, in order to have on hand when attaining petition signatures.

MAJOR UPDATE!
As of Saturday, November 21st 2009, the North Carolina Firearms Freedom Act
now has a sponsor in the North Carolina State House. Representative David Lewis (R) of Harnett County NC will be sponsoring the North Carolina Firearms freedom Act during the 2010-2011 long session of the NC General Assembly.
It is my desire to have a copy of the legislation in his hands by Tuesday or Wednesday, the 24th or the 25th of November. This will allow copious amounts of time for the NCGA Research Division to study all the required modifications of NC State Code in advance of the March 2010 deadline.
It is further my desire to have 5000 citizen petition signatures from each of NC's 100 counties, along with supporting resolutions from a majority of County Commissions Boards by the deadline for legislative introduction around March 15th 2010.
Meeting these dates will allow for a nearly immediate introduction to the House Floor, along with providing intense public and grassroots pressure to adopt this legislation.
We have a very real chance at making this happen, but we need to get HOT on collecting these petitions and County resolutions IMMEDIATELY.
For the next 96 hours, our priority is to review the text of the NCFFA provided below in "Currently proposed text of the NCFFA" and make any modifications or adjustments necessary to ensure a solid 10th Amendment argument in the legislation. Please weigh in right now.
Please compare the text below
to the original version here and to the
Tennessee version here (warning, PDF file)
The focus must be on a strong and unassailable 10th Amendment argument.
Discussion on this will be closed on Tuesday, November 24th 2009, and copies of the result will be prepared in paper and electronic formats for hand delivery to Representative Lewis.
At that point, work will begin in earnest towards the collection of 5000 signatures per county and the supporting resolutions of the county commissioners, to be complete by March 15th 2010.
PLEASE Ladies and Gentlemen, take the time to thank Representative Lewis with a personal letter, and if at all possible some kind of campaign donation however small. It is the absolute truth that Rep Lewis has gone out on a limb to support and introduce this bill, and we need to let him know that we appreciate it:
